Week 10_Task_Graphic Designer Research
Paula Scher is one of the most influential female graphics designers. She has created some of the world's most iconic logos such as the one for Citibank, the 2012 sundance film festival and more recently microsoft windows 8. What I find aesthetically pleasing about her designs is the simlpicity. In all her designs the logos are simple and are easily recognisable. They are unique without being overdrawn.
Take her internationally known citibank logo for example. Simple design with a simple font and two primary colours. The colours represent the passion and elegance of the multinational company (red and blue respectively). The letters themselves actually create closure forming a building or a sort of city skyline.
The sundance logo uses the neutral colour white and presents a sort of optical illusion. It uses a few gestalt principles such as closure and continuation with the outter letters of "Look Again". The entire "Look Again" section also presents some use of proximity.
Her most recent windows 8 logo uses a light blue colour with the neutral colour white to help facilitate the window logo. The window on the left hand side is essentially 4 squares however given their close proximity a window is perceived.

Week 8_Task
The inspiration for my design came from the countries of the world. I chose 4 countries and used their country codes or abbreviations
as my letter choices. AU was chosen to represent Australia, EN for England, GR for Greece and finally CN for China. I chose the
Liberation Sans font because I prefer sans fonts for graphic design applications. The shape and form of sans style fonts are simpler
especially when playing around with the geometry and lines. My postcard design I tried to keep quite simple. The main gestalt principle
I focussed on and applied throughout my designs was closure and reification. This can be seen by the shapes created in white. There is
also a hint of continuation for example with the letter A in AU and so on.
The colour choices for my series were based on the national colours of each country. For Australia I chose green and gold as they are the
national colours and they are analagous colours, Red purple and blue for England and so on

Week 7_ Task _ Mindmap
My chosen theme for my postcards are countries of the world. The abbreviation of the county names I will use for my two letters along with the national colours of the countries for my colour selection.
